A Traffic Jam I Experienced
A
Traffic Jam I Experienced
Yesterday afternoon, I
went to the town market with my father. We took a rickshaw to reach our
destination quickly. Suddenly, our rickshaw stopped in the middle of a big
road. I saw hundreds of vehicles stuck on the street in a long line. It was a
terrible traffic jam that blocked the whole road. Cars, buses, auto-rickshaws,
and motorbikes could not move at all. The drivers were pressing their horns
loudly and making a harsh noise. Thick black smoke from the vehicles filled the
hot and dusty air. People inside the buses looked very tired and annoyed. Many
passengers got down from their vehicles and started walking on foot. Street vendors
were walking between the stuck cars and selling water and snacks. The traffic
police officer was working hard to clear the blocked road. He was signaling
with his hands to move the vehicles forward. Drivers were trying to push past
each other without following proper lane rules. These bad habits made the
traffic jam even worse than before. Small children started crying because of
the heavy heat and long wait. We waited in the same spot for nearly one full
hour. I watched the busy crowd and the rushing people from our rickshaw. The
sun was going down, and the sky turned slightly orange. Slowly, the cars in
front of us began to move forward. The traffic police officer managed to clear
the crossing with great effort. All the vehicles started speeding up their
engines to leave the spot. Our rickshaw also started moving again along the
clear road. I felt a great sigh of relief after being stuck for so long.
Traffic jams waste our valuable time and cause huge trouble for everyone.
Reckless driving and narrow roads are the main reasons for traffic jams. We
must follow traffic rules strictly to avoid such terrible situations. This
experience taught me how painful and boring a traffic jam can be. Finally, we
reached our home safely with my father in the evening.
